Medical Coding Instructor (On Campus) Job Opening in Harvey, Louisiana - Minimum Requirements: Degree in health information technology, related degree or coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA. At least three years medical coding/auditing group experience using approved AHIMA or AAPC curriculum and/or teaching coding at an accredited post-secondary institution. Professional experience in medical coding and/or medical auditing. Professional experience using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and related coding books. Demonstrated working knowledge of current issues, trends, and developments in the field of medical coding including, but not limited to, ICD-10 related changes. Experience with electronic medical records.
This position requires a background check.
Preferences :
AAPC and/or AHIMA approved trainer status.
Demonstrated success in meeting the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Understanding of cultural sensitivity.
Experience teaching online or ability to teach in an online environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Prepares course work and teaches assigned courses.
Assesses and analyzes student mastery of course and program learning outcomes.
Reviews assessment data and adjusts curriculum and instructional methodologies to improve student learning.4. Contributes to outcome discussions at the campus, program and institution levels.
5. Fulfills all duties enumerated within the Statement of Faculty Responsibilities.
6. Participates in online committees and project teams as requested.
7. Attends educational and campus meetings as requested.
8. Contacts students outside the classroom due to student inactivity to relay information related to class work and assignments.
9. Offers students additional tutoring as requested.
10. Refers students to appropriate campus resources.
11. Performs various functions and duties directly related to the program or the operations of Allied Prep campus.
12. Informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and participation requirements.
13. Maintains necessary participation records, scholastic and student records, and submits records according to published guidelines.
14. Participates in professional development, student and other educational activities in accordance with college policy.
15. Maintains current knowledge in the field, vocation or profession.
16. Participates as assigned in various campus activities, workshops and seminars as requested.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
