Busy public office is seeking a qualified individual to perform general office/clerical duties, with the primary function of cashiering. Successful candidates will be detailed oriented, proficient with computers and possess accurate typing skills. Intake Clerks perform a variety of duties including: providing customer service, data entry, typing, cash receipting, case file indexing, multi-tasking, and an assortment of other tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals most suited for Intake Clerk positions possess cashiering experience, general office and computer skills, are team players with ability to work under pressure, and have ability to communicate effectively with the general public. Additional knowledge and skills include automated word processing, legal terminology, familiarity with court rules and up-to-date knowledge of rule changes, and ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Functions
· Greet and acknowledge each customer
· Assist customers where possible
· Provide answers to Pleadings and payment-related queries
· Resolve customer complaints
· Refer customers to the right person to answer queries and deal with any problems
· Accurately process sales using provided equipment. For example: credit card scanners, computers
· Accept cash, checks and bankcards for payment
· Process payments according to company procedure
· Issue receipts for payments received
· Stay up to date on all departmental changes in regards to but not limited to required fees
· Ensure sufficient change is available
· Balance sales and receipts according to company procedure
· Maintain accurate records of transactions
· Maintain a neat, tidy and orderly work area
Education and Experience
· Minimum of High School diploma required.
· College Degree or three plus years of experience in cash handling, or accounting in lieu of degree.
· Legal knowledge preferred.
· A minimum 3 years of customer service experience preferred.
· Basic mathematical knowledge required.
