SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Performs payroll processing functions in an accurate, courteous, and timely manner including issuance of payroll checks, garnishments, and direct deposit. Assists all employees with any payroll related question including pay discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes payroll for all employees in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, including but not limited to issuing checks, processing direct deposits processing timely to comply with state regulations on pay dates and pay schedule, reconciles insurance and garnishment deductions, and ensures proper distribution of paychecks.
Reviews wages computed and makes any needed corrections to ensure accuracy of payroll, including but not limited to answering all incoming employee questions in reference to payroll errors, corrections, deductions or W4 filing status. Processes manual payroll adjustments for items such as incorrect pay rates, incorrect miles/hours paid, referral bonus, training bonus, moving allowances, etc.
Processes manual check requests, including but not limited to multiple earning codes and payroll adjustments.
Processes all returned payroll checks to ensure compliance with state guidelines on unclaimed wages.
Create payroll schedule for year ensuring compliance with state regulations on pay dates.
Creates and processes all information on garnishments, including but not limited to responding to agencies, sending to employees, entering new garnishments, sending payment, and notices on terminations.
Provides support to Field Management by answering questions and following up on all payroll inquiries.
Communicates with bank on check discrepancies including stop payments, fraudulent checks and direct deposit, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements
Processes operation training and administrative hours in the payroll system, including accurately entering information, tracking for compliance with company guidelines, and ensuring all training hours are imported into Kronos and Docuware for reporting to management.
Ensures all final paychecks are processed and distributed within state requirements for payment upon termination of employment.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Ensures the highest level of customer service and confidentiality at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in accounting/payroll or related field; two years payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and/or training in multi-state payroll processing for company with 1,000+ employees preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, management, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Hallcon, Inc., is a 24 hours, 7 days a week operation and is a casual work environment. The position typically entails a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required based on workflow and current projects. Employees may be scheduled to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of service.
