Accounts Receivable Specialist Job Opening in Northbrook, Illinois - The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be a detail-oriented individual who will take responsibility for the Accounts Receivable and Collections duties within our company. This position will also support the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues.
Conduct account research and analysis.
Make daily collection calls.
Process billing for our advertisers.
Prepare and maintain various reports.
Maintain an accurate aging report.
Send statements to outstanding customers.
Reconcile A/R to the G/L.
Interact with customers to resolve outstanding issues.
Assist with month-end closing process, including A/R reports.
Assist with year-end closing and annual audit including running necessary reports for the outside auditors.
Look for ways to improve department processes.
Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required by the Controller.
Key Competencies
Education-BS/BA or equivalent, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 3 years of A/R, Collections experience.
Experience in Sage accounting software preferred, but not required.
Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets and MS Word.
Knowledge of general accounting principles.
Must be a perfectionist by nature, with no tolerance for financial sloppiness.
Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
Must be a strong communicator, both paper and over the phone.
Must have good problem solving skills.
Must be able to determine priorities.
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressure.
