Job Summary:
The Senior Corporate Accountant must be an independent thinker with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the proven ability to lead and mentor team members. Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Senior Corporate Accountant is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting and financial reporting across multiple operating divisions, providing complex accounting support, in addition to completing a variety of project-based initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Complete month-end close assignments, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and account analysis for more complex accounts
Research inquiries and provide accounting support/guidance to business managers across multiple operating divisions
Provide expertise and guidance to other accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions; review the work of other team members as assigned
Assist in establishing and monitoring proper accounting policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP
Identify areas of process and productivity improvement across all business units, and assist in designing and implementing procedures
Maintain adequate controls and supporting documentation; assist with annual audit requests
Actively participate in or lead special projects across the operating divisions
Support the completion of required regulatory compliance
Complete other accounting functions as directed by management
Requirements:
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the proven ability to lead and mentor others
Able to work effectively both individually and as a team member
Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with good financial/business aptitude
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Solid work ethic and problem solving skills, demonstrating strict attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Demonstrate clear and effective communications skills ? both written and verbal
Positive attitude with creative and diplomatic customer service
Strong desire to develop and implement process improvements
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
ERP experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or Navision
Familiarity with recent accounting pronouncements preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience
Multi-factory manufacturing experience a plus
Public accounting experience a plus
Education:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience
