Position Overview
This Engineering team member would join as a power electronics hardware engineer for the company?s innovative Grid Energy Router (GER) product line. The successful candidate must be a fast learner, leveraging studied power electronics theories and methods to deliver diverse Grid connected hardware solutions for single-phase and multi-phase GER platforms. The individual must be highly motivated, committed to a high level of industrial product quality/performance, and be viewed by peers as an optimist, being able to balance persistence with professionalism.
Required Technical Responsibilities, Skills and Knowledge
System architecture and design for high power/voltage product development
System and sub-system trade-offs supporting strong build/buy decisions making
Driver design to control high power stage topologies using IGBT and FET switching devices
Voltage and Current sensor design & implementation supporting DSP control methodologies utilizing ADC and DAC components
Experienced with environmentally hardened Industrial rated product development
Exposure to Design for Manufacture & Test (DFM/DFT) concepts
Strong understanding of mixed signal PCB design (digital/analog) in high noise environments
Strong understanding of microcontroller and digital signal processing (DSP) based power electronics architectures
Close liaison with Mechanical & Software Development throughout the development process
Experienced in system and sub-system cooling strategies, EMC and Safety considerations
Experienced in prototype building and testing, both in house and using Contract Manufacture
All stages of development testing: Design verification, HW-SW Integration, System/Performance verification
Good build, assembly and rework skills for lab prototyping
Documentation of designs and development activities in all areas described
Required non-technical skills and values
Positive attitude and motivated by market-driven challenge
Strong problem solving skills at all levels; high attention to detail and natural curiosity
Ability to interact with customers and aid in field deployment activities
Self-motivated, self-starter, TEAM player & natural leader
Strong ethics and passion to deliver to commitments
Industry Experience
The successful candidate will have approximately 5 years of industry experience in developing and delivering Environmentally Hardened Power Electronics solutions
Strong working knowledge of industry standard design and simulation tools
MatLab, PSIM, Spice
Education
BSEE or MSEE with a Power Electronics focus
