Controller Job Opening in Augusta, Maine - One of our clients at KMA in the central Maine area is looking for a Controller to add to their growing team. The Controller maximizes return on financial assets by executing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Grounded in strong business acumen, the Controller will be a strategic Business Partner, demonstrating innovation, leadership and advanced capabilities in using metrics to deliver results.
Position Responsibilities:
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Guides financial decisions by monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Protects assets by monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees as well as coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor Degree required and MBA and/or CPA preferred
Five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three (3) or more years of experience with financials for a publicly traded company
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to affectively lead a team of professionals to achieve target and timeline goals needed.
Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or Executive Team.
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements.
Controller must use the utmost discretion in all and communication for staff, Executive Team, etc.
Must have excellent computer knowledge with expert knowledge in Excel and Accounting Software databases.
