Accountant, Real Estate Operations Job Opening in Whitestone, New york - Transitional Services for New York, Inc. (?TSINY?) is a private not-for-profit mental health agency working with persons with mental illness to help to enrich their lives to achieve levels of independence and self-reliance.
As a result of the growth in its residential services, TSINY is seeking an Accountant, Real Estate Operations to play a key role in establishing and maintaining the fiscal infrastructure to manage this expansion. Reporting to the Divisional Director, Real Estate Operations the Accountant, Real Estate Operations will be responsible for tenant management, financial reporting, budgeting and monitoring of TSINY?s residential programs and facility operations.
Tenant Management
Timely and accurate production of monthly tenant rent invoices.
Timely and accurate recording and maintenance of lease / security deposit lists.
Liaise with residential staff regarding signed lease agreements, surrendered apartments and other tenant apartment matters.
Coordinate with and assist residential program Case Managers in the preparation of accurate and timely tenant financial worksheets.
Establish and maintain clear and consistent communications with residential staff regarding lease expirations, apartment surrenders, security deposit forfeitures and other lease related matters.
Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information to ensure the timely filing for all Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) affordable rent certifications.
Program / Facility Monitoring and Reporting
Assist the Divisional Director, Real Estate Operations in budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of facility operations.
Assist the Divisional Director, Real Estate Operations in budgeting and monitoring residential program operations and program contracts and grants.
Assist the Divisional Director, Real Estate Operations in accounting and reporting for affiliated real estate entity operations including information requirements related to the annual year-end external audit process.
Provide and maintain accounting and other recordkeeping support for the Director, Facilities Management.
Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Experience in not-for-profit operations and accounting.
Demonstrated analytical skills utilizing budgetary, operational, financial and related information.
High proficiency in Excel, Word and accounting software programs.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task with an attention to detail.
Ability to work with peers and supervisors collaboratively in a collegial work environment.
