Northwest Behavioral Healthcare Services is recruiting for qualified candidates to fill full-time, and part-time positions as an Adolescent Counselor.
Overview:
We are a secure inpatient dual diagnosis facility that serves the Northwest and beyond, providing solution focused therapy as our primary treatment philosophy for teenagers in crisis. Adolescent Counselors play a direct therapeutic role in our clients treatment, offering positive reinforcement and implementing coaching opportunities as they arise. Applicants can expect to implement dual diagnosis treatment, participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to assess clients needs and treatment planning. Adolescent Counselors must be able to implement crisis prevention interventions, remain calm, effective, and manage crisis situations and/or escalated behavior using strengths based practices.
Responsibilities:
Observe client behavior and implement interventions at the point of performance
Supervise a team of adolescents throughout five group therapy sessions per shift and clients? time in their housing suites.
Implement solution focused and strengths based interventions
Ensure the safety of clients and staff through complying with policies and procedures
Counsel clients through crisis and redirect negative behavior
Reinforce positive behavior
Assist clients with personal needs while in their housing suites
Qualifications:

Potential Adolescent Counselors must also be able to work professionally and positively with others while promoting team building within the client and staff community. Two years mental health work experience with adolescents in a residential or other treatment setting is preferred. A Bachelor?s degree in the mental health field is also preferred, however, we will consider applicants that are near completion of their undergrad program, have passion working with troubled youth, or have the proper insight and role model qualities that adolescents can aspire towards.
Employment Contingencies:
Must be able to clear a criminal back ground check
Must be able to pass a full drug screen. Due to the nature of our clientele and our mission, this will include marijuana.
If in recovery, must be able to provide documentation or references showing 2 years of consecutive and current sobriety.
