Food Service personnel assist the cook in all aspects of the food service operation, including but not limited to, food preparation, serving of meals, cleaning and maintenance of food service area/equipment as well as record keeping where required. Listing of necessary skills:
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
High School Diploma or GED
Educated and/or certified in food safety and sanitation.
Must have well-established organizational and time management skills.
Employment experience in quantity food production and preparation preferred.
Knowledge of measuring, weighing, following recipes and operating equipment in a production kitchen.
Able to interact tactfully, effectively, and courteously with patients, staff and other persons encountered in the course of work.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Numerical and clerical ability to calculate and record production quantities,and inventory,
Cut and slice fruits and vegetables.
Assemble sandwiches.
Mix salads.
Cut food into serving sizes.
Package product and perform similar routine food preparation tasks.
Ensure proper portion control.
Serve food to patients.
Maintain the appropriate temperature of all hot/cold food stuffs during the entire serving operation.
Clean serving utensils and pans.
Perform periodic physical inventory of supplies and food stuffs and reorder as necessary.
Ensure the thorough and sanitary cleaning of the food serving kitchen.
Clean refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, dishwashing machines, smaller equipment and storerooms at regularly schedule intervals.
Enforce safety standards.
Complete a variety of automated and manual record keeping tasks involved with food serving kitchen operations and meal applications.
Demonstrate a pleasing personality and appropriate public relations.
Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
Attend meetings as assigned.
Perform such other duties or responsibilities that the supervisor may find necessary.
