Job Summary: This role splits time between database development and database administration functions. The Database Developer will be working closely with the Software Engineers to create and maintain database objects while ensuring compliance to database best practices. The Database Developer will also be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of SNC developed databases. Additionally, responsible for planning and troubleshooting databases and related web application systems.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Database development
Play a leadership role in database architecture as well as data management stack decisions
Design new or update database objects as needed during product development
Streamline PLC database tasks such as: deployments and migrations, scripts, and source control of SQL artifacts
Develop and maintain documentation of the database structures and related dependencies
Evangelize database best practices within the Software Engineering team
Database administration
Review and approve all database changes created by software engineering and provide mentorship and positive feedback
Ensure optimum performance, integrity and security of SNC databases including any impacts on the codebase
Maintenance and development of BLOB storage systems
