Financial Controller for Mortgage Servicer & Mortgage Fund Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - The Financial Controller is responsible for the financial operations and management of mortgage servicer and mortgage investment fund. This role will oversee all accounting operations, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. The Controller will lead the accounting team to ensure timely and efficient coordination of the finance, accounting, and budgeting activities. This position is a key member of senior leadership and will report directly to the company?s owners.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements, financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and special analyses to help guide business decisions
Communicate directly with the company auditors, fund administrator, tax consultants and banking representatives
Support the month-end and year-end closing processes
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of current trends and best practices in all accounting operations as well as the ability to evaluate business needs and prepare recommendations based on financial analyses. Qualified candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and provide inspiring leadership to accounting team members. This is an on-site job at our headquarters in South Loop of Chicago and is a full-time position eligible for all employee benefits.
Desired Experience
Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance is required.
Minimum 5 years experience in accounting function; CPA helpful
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Demonstrate success in a role
Experience in mortgage industry preferred, but not required

Salary: $60,000.00 to $90,000.00 /year
