Payroll Manager Job Opening in Lake Forest, Illinois - Lake Forest College Business Office seeks applications for a full-time Payroll Manager. The Payroll Manager will serve a key role at the College and must be able to balance working effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing many day to day operations of payroll, and will be expected to produce timely and accurate data with care. The Payroll Manager will interact effectively within our culturally diverse environment while performing duties tactfully and fairly.
Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: adhering to and maintaining compliance with the employee handbooks related to pay and benefits; handling employee information and compensation with care, sensitivity and integrity; providing oversight and production of the payroll processes - weekly and monthly; corroborating many payroll documents; determining the taxability treatment of certain benefits; maintaining proper general ledger accounting for payroll, benefit and tax; managing a small staff; maintaining compliance with various payroll, tax laws and regulations; managing the student payroll; having a strong sense of internal controls as they relate to payroll; providing continuous improvement of office staff.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
A bachelor?s degree with at least 5 years of strong payroll processing experience
Thorough knowledge of payroll, payroll tax and compliance
Excellent computer and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A strong commitment to details and be able to multi-task and meet many deadlines
Experience with various tax form processes (quarterly and annually)
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with payroll in a higher education environment
Experience with Jenzabar software (payroll)
Experience with writing and understanding database queries
