Engineering Manager Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for management and creation of Process Engineering Records that define all aspects of parts within the PSG plant. This shall include supervising and monitoring all aspects of the Lab staff and Engineering Technician personnel assigned to the plant specific engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
Develops processes for materials meeting safety requirements and efficiency standards
Responsible for the creation, maintenance, auditing, and assignation of all processes
Manages and oversees the analysis, SPC tracking, and maintenance of the chemistry batch sinks and tanks
Development of non-chemical related process steps in the PSG plant associated with product reliability in Texturizing, Twin Wire Arc Spray and other thermal coatings, IOS class clean room and de-particulation steps, and general semiconductor related processes as they relate to the parts reconditioning processes
Performs laboratory duties associated with chemical and wastewater analysis, charting, and reporting
Directs and supervises all assigned Engineers and Engineering Technicians
Manages all facets of regulatory requirements for operation of the plant, including wastewater, air emissions, hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste, procedures and staff. This includes the ability to assume legal signatory authority for all activities involving local, state, and national regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
A minimum of two years of chemical or laboratory work, or related analytical work experience.
Experience with PVD/CVD/Thin Films
Print reading and developing experience
1 year+ experience in documenting procedures
BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical degree
Proficient in MS office
40 hours of HAZWOPR training a plus
HAZMAT 40 Hour Training and valid state certificate a plus
Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control. Record of prior formal training required.
Must possess the abilities to multitask and work well under pressure
Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities. Must be able to read, comprehend, and generate internal documents such as work order travelers, SOPs, inventory records, HAZMAT regulations, state and local regulations, and maintain internal logs and general company records in a clear concise manner.
Excellent analytical and advanced mathematical skills are an essential element of this position. Candidate must possess excellent spreadsheet and data base management skills, along with good general computer and statistical reasoning abilities.
Regular attendance is an essential function required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services
Safety
Must follow and lead by example in the area of all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies as well as specific safety requirements within the chemical, HAZMAT, and Environmental teams. Responsible for maintaining and training the Emergency Response Team that is responsible for the containment, reporting, and reduction of hazardous and non-hazardous spills within the plant.
Must have a thorough knowledge of all OSHA and other state and federal regulations, and the implementation of same. Will receive training in 40 hour HAZMAT compliance, and will lead Pentagon Technologies in the implementation and training of all HAZWOPER activities.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an office, laboratory and a controlled chemical and wastewater environment. Persons who are sensitive to chemical environments or with an extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be considered as good candidates for this position.
Physical Demands
Must Pass Company required screening tests. Must be in reasonably fit condition to regularly climb tank ladders and ladders to lower level sump area in waste treatment areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and perform light lifting duties (up to 40 pounds).
