Position Summary:
The Grant Manager is responsible for executing activities detailed in Capacity Builder?s grant applications as summarized in the project abstracts that follow. Additionally, the Project Manager performs a wide range of activities purposed to sustain the initiatives and outcomes of the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage grant funded projects as assigned, assuring the successful execution of assigned scopes of work on-time and within budget. Includes the development of and adherence to work plans and implementation budgets.
Meet regularly with community stakeholder groups whose initiatives align with CBI?s mission to development new grant prospects
Review/Approve purchase requisitions, retaining compliance with all organizational and funders procurement protocol.
Review/Approve travel requests
Travel to conferences and other training events as specified by the organization
Review/Approve time off requests
Meet weekly with Project Directors to discuss progress on scopes of work
Receive grant documents, create management tools, assign Project Staff, initiate implementation protocol as detailed on CBI?s Awarded Grants Checklist, collaborate on grant applications, either serving as primary Champion or serving as a training and technical assistance resource to others
Review/Approve reimbursement requests in conjunction with various Accounting staff and the Executive Director in order to maintain internal controls and compliance with grant contracts.
Receive and facilitate funder site visits
Work with Accounting to create/refine systems for cost processing and allocation
Communicate with Funders as needed
Track Grant Applications after submission
Attend weekly Grants Planning calls
Work with National Indian Youth Council and other similar community organizations to place supported trainees among CBI?s projects and programs
Perform website updates as needed
Proofread ?corporate? documents prior to submission to Funders
Write Job Descriptions for new positions in conjunction with Human Resources
Participate in interview and hiring of staff
Prepare for and attend Quarterly Board Meetings
Facilitate community or client based trainings
Attend non-mandatory conferences and workshops as directed by the Board of Managers
Attend Funder-mandated conferences and workshops as needed
Stay up to date on current management best practices
Provide documentation for audits as needed
Source and document in-kind contributions
Leverage existing contacts and relationships in Capacity Builders? projects
In relations with staff, the Project Manager will:
Participate, often leading, in the recruitment, employment, training, scheduling, supervision and release of all project staff and volunteers.
Ensure staff development and education activities take place and that project goals are achieved.
Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps and motivates a diverse and top staff.
Qualifications :
Passion, imagination, vision, leadership and integrity.
A minimum of 5-7 years grant project management experience with increasing levels of responsibility and management of staff, preferably within a nonprofit or government agency
Demonstrated knowledge of social service, education, capacity building, finance, and organizational development.
Bachelor?s degree required; an advanced degree preferred.
Experience writing and managing federal grants.
Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating projects involved at-risk youth.
Curriculum development, testing, manualization and dissemination experience.
More broadly, must understand housing, health, wellness, education and economic development in Navajo communities and have some insight regarding steps needed to address these issues.
Experience developing and executing systems to hold staff accountable for the successful completion of tasks assigned.
Should exhibit the ability to solve problems through innovation.

A track record of embracing challenges and able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary.
A thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing
