Assistant Plant Controller Job Opening in Las Cruces, New mexico - Leading food manufacturer with a long track record of producing and selling highly successful products internationally is looking for an Assistant Plant Controller in the Greater Las Cruces, NM area.
This is a newly created position that will act as a key business partner of the plant management and financial management.
Job Description Summary:
Responsible for accurate and reliable financials / reporting at their own manufacturing location.
Play a key role in leading the monthly and yearly closing activities , interim forecasting activity, annual budgeting exercise and related reporting to Corporate Headquarter.
Key contributor to internal control at the plant location (Inventory, Assets, etc), drive and coordinate performance improvement projects and be a partner to continuous improvement initiatives at the plant.
Limited travel will be required on an as needed basis to Chicago HQ.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
SAP :
Provides lead support for the transition to SAP ERP software.
Assists in trouble shooting and problem solving with the SAP software conversion .
Becomes the production super-user at the plant level
Production Support :
Provides operational support with regard to production costs, production efficiencies, yields, budgeting and variance analysis to the Director of Operations, Vice President ? Operations and Chicago Financial team.
Monitors and analyze manufacturing variances and provide feedback to the Director of Operations, to assist in the efficient operation of the plant operation.
Provides analytical support with regard to inventory, production reporting and the company?s ERP system.
Reviews the plant financial results with local plant management and coordinate performance improvement plan.
Provides plant and corporate management with timely reviews of organization's financial and operational results and progress in its various programs and activities.
Corporate Governance / Internal Control:
Ensures corporate objectives and policies are implemented and in compliance with appropriate company policies and procedures with regard to the manufacturing operation.
Recommends modifications to improve operational processes and controls.
Production Reporting:
Calculates and communicates daily yield results.
Budgeting:
Assists the Director of Operations in the preparation of the budget and periodic projections which summarize and forecast the plant business activity and financial position in areas of manufacturing costs, plant efficiencies, production yields based on past, present, and expected operations.
Compiles cost information to be used in operating budget preparation. Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Standard Costing:
Reviews and recommends the location?s bills of material, crewing standards, line efficiencies, yields for standard cost maintenance.
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises the Senior Staff Accountant function.
Other :
Recommends modifications to improve financial and operational processes and controls
Ad hoc request related to costing (what if scenario / new products)
Assist with audits of company's financial accounts and records.
Recommends modifications to improve accounting processes and controls.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies :
Bachelor?s Degree
Must have 5-10 years of related work experience, management experience, with consumer packaged goods experience a PLUS.
Must have significant experience with SAP
Possess high level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills including experience creating pivot tables and V-look-up tables, are required
Exude a professional attitude; be courteous, friendly, exceptionally organized, and willing to take initiative
Analytical with high level of detail orientation and experience working with spreadsheets, databases, and interpreting data for various reporting purposes
Strong customer service (internal and external) orientation, ability to collaborate
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to influence without direct reporting line
Result oriented and pragmatic
Willing to challenge status quo and drive change
