As Clinical Coordinator, Performance Improvement, you will work with the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) registry. This registry is the leading nationally validated, risk-adjusted outcomes-based program to measure and improve the quality of surgical care.
After working to become certified by the ACS as a nurse Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR), you will spend two-thirds of your time abstracting charts to gather data from surgical charts. The rest of your time will be spent working with multidisciplinary teams on data driven quality improvement projects aimed at improving surgical outcomes. Selected projects frequently require partnership with a data analyst to guide clinical project teams through the PDCA process aimed at improving care delivery for specific disease-based populations of interest. You will provide knowledge and expertise in data-driven quality improvement tools, such as Lean and Six Sigma, to identify areas with potential variation in care, explore that variation for clinical improvement opportunities, collaborate with your data partner and front line clinicians to design success metrics and care pathways, then work with those front line clinical teams to gain a strong understanding of the best practices surrounding clinical practice in that area. Once this groundwork has been laid, you will assist these front line clinical teams with implementing EMR tools and establishing workflows to promote consistent delivery of best practice care with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable success with defined metrics.
The ideal candidate will come with prior experience in the surgical realm. Knowledge of healthcare delivery science or training in programs such as the Intermountain Healthcare ATP course would also be beneficial. The ideal candidate will also have strong written and verbal communication skills. Clinical experience is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. AND LICENSURE
Bachelor?s degree in nursing.
Master?s degree preferred.
Current Hawaii state licensure as a RN.
Certification in National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE
Two years clinical experience required; experience in a specific area of specialty (i.e., cardiac, geriatrics, oncology, etc.) may be required depending upon area assigned.
Knowledge of performance improvement, systems preferred.
Demonstrated experience with computer word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications may be required depending upon area of assignment.
