English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher Job Opening in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan - ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WITH
ST. CLAIR SHORES ADULT & COMMUNITY EDUCATION
POSITION : English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher for the 2017/18 day program. One (1) position is available.
SUMMARY : Instruct adult students who perform from a Basic English skill level to a transitional ESL/ABE level in the English Language in the following categories: Reading, Grammar, Pronunciation, Listening, Speaking, Civics and Citizenship as indicated by the CASAS and/or TABE assessment in preparation for entry into the ESL program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s Degree or higher with valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in English, all subjects or related area.
Experience teaching ESL or adult learners desired
Writing and grammar skills necessary
Familiarity with latest technology used in adult education, specifically ESL
Positive communication skills working with adult students
Knowledge of Michigan Common Core Standards
Excellent organizational skills
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Prepare materials that follow curriculum for ESL course. Reference State curriculum guidelines (framework) when preparing lessons.
Facilitate information from core textbook and sublimate online material.
Provide basic skills instruction in English, reading, grammar, pronunciation, listening, speaking as well as Civics and Citizenship skills to adult students.
Instruct students in English, Civics and Citizenship areas utilizing technology aids.
Incorporate Career and Technical Education (work skills) into curriculum.
Administer CASAS and/or TABE during and/or end of semester.
Develop lesson plans to help students increase basic skills and show improvement on a CASAS and/or TABE post-test.
Utilize resource materials to promote individual gains.
Incorporate technology into daily lessons ie. Burlington English, Odysseyware, Career Cruising, etc.
Properly track attendance and other required documents as dictated by the Pupil Accountant and program requirements.
Follow attendance procedures under state requirements.
Attend scheduled staff and/or emergency meetings.
Work cooperatively as a team member with staff, administrators, and students.
Additional duties as required by the nature of the program.
TERMS
Monday-Thursday mornings: 9:00am?12:15pm Approximately 14 -15 Hours/Week
Hourly pay range: $23.00 - $24.00 Per Hour
