JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Production Manager manages and directs all manufacturing activities within the Inlay Products Departments to produce world class products.
While the individual will be required to participate in strategic discussions, however the individual we are looking for must have Hands-On experience in all aspects of Production Operations. Individual must have a solid understanding of 5S and Six Sigma and be in a position to formulate positive changes efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates the daily work activities required to execute the work schedule consistent with company goals and objectives
Recommends the most efficient use of equipment to produce a quality product on a timely basis and in accordance with planned schedule
Assigns work to employees based on available equipment and the employee?s ability and product knowledge
Schedules overtime as required to execute the production schedule and gives directions to Supervisors on 2nd & 3rd Shift. Direct Report -8 Employees and Indirect Reports- 80 Employees
Communicates with other departments, units and shifts to determine their needs, problems, etc. to ensure that all work is completed in a timely fashion
Assist with problem resolution, delays, and differences taking appropriate action as necessary
Responsible for employee compliance with established company policy and procedures, takes appropriate corrective action when necessary within established guidelines
Responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective training program for new and transferred employees and monitors progress of trainees
Supervises the timely and accurate completion of all required records and data entry
Investigates errors to determine root causes and recommends corrective action
Work closely with Engineering to make recommendations for process improvements, equipment modifications and tooling to reduce scrap, improve quality and productivity
Requisition all necessary supplies and follow up to ensure there is no interruption in production and coordinates closely with purchasing as required
Work closely with the Maintenance Department by requesting and coordinating repairs to equipment when necessary; schedules and coordinates down time of equipment for preventive maintenance to minimize production interruptions
Ensure that all employees work safely, strictly adhering to all safety rules and regulations and the proper use of all safety equipment and PPE as required
Completes performance appraisals for all assigned employees, set goals and objectives consistent with department or unit goals
Recommends wage increases, promotions, transfers and adjust employee responsibilities when necessary
Interview job applicants and provide input in the hiring decision
Responsible for department cleanliness, appearance, and housekeeping
Conduct meetings with department personnel to ensure that they are informed on business developments, policy changes and upcoming departmental plans, including quality initiatives
Recommend corrective action up to and including termination and counsel employees when required
Communicate with Purchasing on raw material requirements
Coordinate with Customer Service, Production Scheduling, and Department Leads on various expedited priorities
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS in Business Management, Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization, as well as customers, vendors, and contractors
Strong problem solving ability and leadership skills in a complex manufacturing environment
Ability to manage competing or changing priorities
Strong computer skills, including use of MS Office
Previous experience using SAP or other comparable MRP system
Experience with Lean Six Sigma practices on the manufacturing floor is a preferred
