The Payroll Tax Analyst's primary responsibilities include the timely preparation and remittance of payroll tax returns, coupons, amended tax returns and payments for our client base.
Job Functions:
Complete daily balancing and reconciliation process of tax liabilities to MasterTax.
Prepare non-tax client payment coupon and quarterly tax payment packages.
Conduct quarterly/annual balancing and reconciliation process of tax liabilities to MasterTax liabilities and payments.
File all quarterly tax returns and electronic media in accordance with agency specific guidelines.
Prepare and distribute client tax packages.
Prepare and communicate quarterly tax variance and refund information to clients.
Prepare and file appropriate client tax agency EFT registrations, Federal E-file registrations and reporting agent authorizations.
Support and education of clients and Customer Service Representatives with tax related questions. Answer tax compliance and general questions from clients & internal staff.
Ensures compliance and accuracy while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax issues related to Federal, State and Local tax compliance.
Responds and follows up with client and tax agency requests and inquiries in a timely professional manner.
Reconciliation and entry of new client balances against documentation and preparation of correspondence to assist new clients with transition.
Research problems and out of balance situations.
Build and improve upon current policies and procedures ensuring SSAE compliance.
Maintain proactive relationship with taxing authorities.
Education, Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
The Payroll Tax Analyst position will work in the support of and under the direction of the Director of Tax and must be capable of performing in a responsible and efficient manner the techniques and tasks that are assigned. The Payroll Tax Analyst must also be familiar with knowledge of PC applications, payroll and tax filing packages.
Education: 4 year degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience in payroll, accounting or tax preferred.
Certification: American Payroll Institute Certified Payroll professional (CPP) Preferred.
Industry Experience: Previous experience with payroll products/processing, tax calculations, remittance and compliance preferred.
