Responsibilities: Essential Function
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a support person for the Director of Nursing to coordinate and organize administrative processes to facilitate the hiring/staffing of nursing personnel. Communicates, coordinates and facilitates adequate staffing of all nursing units under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. Facilitates communication between unit staff and the Director of Nursing. The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in directing the staff and operation of the Nursing Department; assists in coordinating, planning and managing nursing activities; helps in formulating nursing program goals and objectives utilizing Evidence Based Practice; assists in managing nursing positions; assists in the management of the nursing budget; assists with recruitment and retention programs; along with the Director of Nursing, represents the Nursing Department in professional and/or community organizations; demonstrates age specific and cultural sensitivity. Also, assists with report development, graphing and documentation of information within the nursing department. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and PI Standards.
Qualifications: Experience Desired
Bachelors in Nursing and 3 years previous experience as a RN will be accepted. ADON will alternate weeks for on call with DON and will be placed on the AOC schedule eventually.
Skill Requirement:
Must be flexible with work schedule. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and leadership abilities. Should demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems and utilize appropriate steps for problem resolution, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and ability to exercise sound judgment. Must be competent in the areas of interpersonal communications, excellent verbal and written skills, knowledge of Medicare and regulatory and credentialing criteria standards, knowledge of safety standards, spread of organisms, and the adult learning process. Must be competent in the provision of nursing care.
