Our business is now recruiting for the position of Web Software Developer (Senior Web Specialist) reporting to our Community Development Manager based in Chicago, US.
As part of our global team with colleagues in both Leeds and Chicago, we are looking for someone who has a keen eye for detail and passion for fixing bugs and developing new features for our element14 Community, Design Centre, and eCommerce Front End sites , which effectively drive key metrics such as visits, registrations, participation, referrals and sales.
We are looking for someone who is results driven to ensure features and fixes are delivered on time, to established code quality standards and following established agile development methodologies . In addition, able to ensure feature deliverables have the necessary technical documentation, and appropriate handover to testing and release management team members.
Our ideal candidate has to be comfortable working across functional and regional boundaries, someone looking to be part of a supportive, hardworking team , with an excellent work dynamic , enthusiastic, driven and analytical with a questioning mind to see both existing and potential problems.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders globally.
BA degree or proven work experience in a similar role
Strong, demonstrable knowledge of PHP, as well as MySQL, and MS SQL databases
Strong experience in web front end programming skills including JavaScript, CSS, HTML, JQuery, Ajax, etc.
Working knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating systems
Demonstrable history of learning new technology
Strong analytical skills
Desirable - but not Essential
Experience working with Community and eCommerce platforms (Jive SBS and WebSphere Commerce)
Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
Experience working with 3rd party web APIs
Working knowledge of core Java including Struts and Spring
Expertise in mobile technologies and responsive design
Experience working within Agile development methodologies
Experience utilizing analytics and testing tools
Experience with social media, technical communities
Ability to work with teams distributed globally
