Medical Insurance Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our revenue cycle management business office.
The position will provide accounting and financial support services for an urgent care revenue cycle management operations. This position is primarily responsible for accounts receivable of medical insurance claims both commercial and governmental (Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, etc.).
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience working medical insurance AIR in a healthcare setting, working payments from commercial and governmental (Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, etc.) insurance companies with a solid understanding of:
Commercial and governmental products: HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, MA, Workers Com, etc.
Current CMS guidelines and commercial payer rules
Health insurance billing and medical terminology
Specifically, the candidate will work in a rapidly paced urgent care environment Accounts Receivable (AIR) department to ensure payments by primary, secondary payers and/or self-pay patients are accurate and timely. The candidate will:
Ability to manage work lists to ensure maximization of cash flow
Identify trends (analyze data and report information) and perform root cause analysis on unpaid or underpaid claims and report findings to management.
Work closely with insurance companies and third party payers to collect revenue
Handle contracted and non-contracted reimbursement issues.
Research and effectively action denials, underpayments, rejections, and appeals.
Collaborating with other internal RCM team members including patient registration (front end).
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, am work efficiently
Ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, spelling, proof reading skills and follow-up
Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with assignments with minimum direction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree (accounting, finance, business admin or related discipline) or equivalent work experience. Industry certifications, a plus.
12 Months experience.
Demonstrated critical thinking and research capabilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
Experience with Medical Billing Software and Applications
