Sales Assistant - Warehouse Job Opening in Hilo, Hawaii - POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs a variety of duties, including taking orders and placing sales calls, increasing Hilo Fish Company's customer base. Performs various duties within sales department where customer contact is a prime responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Answers customer?s questions about products, prices, product uses, and credit terms.
Receives telephone, fax, e-mail or walk-in request for orders, order changes, adjustments and cancellations directly from customers. Achieves and maintains rapport with customers to give them the best possible service.
Takes orders and inputs orders into the computer.
Recommends products to customers, based on customer?s needs and interests; explain product features and solicit orders.
Displays or demonstrates product, using samples and emphasizes salable features.
Uses the company portal to retrieve customer information, stock status information, to make changes on customer orders. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
Assists with daily office duties such as making copies, filing, scanning, answering the telephone, creating invoices, processes payments, and assists will call customers.
May make sales calls to visit current/potential customers.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Wraps and loads fish onto delivery trucks.
Follows Good Manufacturing Practice by wearing a clean lab coat, hair net and gloves in the wrapping or cutting room.
Performs other duties as assigned by sales staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Prior sales experience, preferably in the seafood industry, but will train.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a high degree of judgment, especially when working with information that is confidential in nature.
Competent in computer skills: Microsoft Office Application-Excel, Word and Outlook
INTERPERSONAL INTERACTION
This position reports directly to the General Manager. On a daily basis, the person in this position will interact with customers and employees from various departments within the company. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas with employees and customers so they will understand. Also the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
