Controller Job Opening in Cleveland, Ohio - Senders Pediatrics is a vibrant Pediatric Center with thirty years of commitment to providing ?Compassionate Care, Cutting Edge Services, Connection and Consultation? to our patients and their families. We are searching for a Controller who can build on our successes, and help us transform our finance and billing practices to become the pediatric office of the future. We?re cultivating innovation and seek a naturally curious leader with experience in both finance and billing in a healthcare environment who is eager to learn and always looking for new possibilities. This will take tremendous creativity, experience with and a willingness to learn about emerging medical coding and technology, a can-do work ethic, and an impressive track record in financial leadership. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, innovative leader with the passion and experience needed to implement billing and financial practices that will truly differentiate our practice. The Controller will report directly to the President and CEO.
Essential Functions:
Provides guidance and direction to the CEO and COO on all financial matters. Oversees the implementation of all finance related projects including, but not limited to, those related to efficiency, business growth and development, budget forecasting and projections.
Transforms billing operations and practices to align the practice for the future.
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Monitors and confirms financial condition by providing information to external auditors.
Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Meets billing operational standards by contributing billing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying billing system improvements.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data. Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Oversee and streamline billing and collections processes and month-end closing and billing reconciliations.
Is responsible for maintaining department dashboards and tracking performance metrics
Is responsible for developing and maintaining the Standard Operating Procedures manual for finance and billing, and ensuring that staff are trained on the latest iteration
Is responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Leads monthly team meetings for the Finance and Billing staff, and meets monthly with each member of the team to support growth and development. Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Serves as a liaison to the back office, front office, human resources and research to promote maximal office efficiency, and as the spokesperson for Finance and Billing at leadership team meetings, provider meetings and staff meetings
Functions as a leader and inspires coworkers to be motivated to reach their potential
Required Skills/Experience:
Degree in accounting or finance
Experience in Medical Billing, or direct oversight of a billing department
Established Leader w/3-5 years of successful leadership experience
Skilled at navigating financial software and analyzing financial results.
Experience developing standards, auditing performance, and tracking expenses.
Keen ability to manage performance and processes, and make recommendations
Proven ability to develop large-scale budgets, and perform strategic planning and priority setting for a finance and billing department
Key Leadership Skills:
Ability to zoom in and zoom out (strategic, but also able to execute)
Passion for process improvement and people development
Ability to ?lead to the practice? vs. ?lead to a department?
Ability to work with autonomy in a self-directed manner
Strong relationship manager (internally with staff and externally with patients/families)
