Maine Behavioral Healthcare is seeking an Educational Technician at our Spring Harbor Academy . The Special Education Technician works as a member of the education team as part of the year round special purpose school of the Developmental Disorders Program. Under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher supported by the Clinical Director, the Technician provides designated instructional services to meet the required academic, behavioral and daily living needs of our students.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Post high school study in educationally related field preferred.
1+ years of experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, and/or behavior problems in a school, hospital or residential setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to student patients through the formative years (ages 5 ? 20) with consideration of variable cognitive abilities, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
Certification from the Maine Department of Education with minimum of 60 credits in approved study.
Minimal level of proficiency in swimming in both shallow and deep water to secure safety of students in the event of an emergency.
