Landmark Properties, headquartered in Athens, Georgia, is a fully integrated real estate firm specializing in the development and management of high quality student housing communities. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Property Accountant for our corporate office. The Assistant Property Accountant is responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts payable records, as well as assisting the Senior Accountant with various accounting tasks as needed.
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Position Type: Salary, Non-Exempt
Roles and Responsibilities
The duties listed below are an outline of the Assistant Property Accountant?s responsibilities and should not be considered an all-inclusive list. As the needs of the company change, these duties may be modified as needed.
Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Process payables on a weekly basis * Performs bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks
Distributes signed checks as required
Approve Purchase Orders and ensure accuracy of invoices entered by property staff
Answer vendor inquiries
Answer inquiries from property staff or company departments
Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate account payable files
Ensures company credit card transactions are entered by cardholders and all card payments are made by due date
Assembles and processes overnight shipments.
Process wire transfers, account transfers, deposits, and other banking transactions as needed
Assists in the annual IRS 1099 process by researching and making the determination as to which vendors require a 1099
Assists in completing Property Reporting Packages for multiple sites
Works with on-site management to ensure accurate financial records are maintained
Completion of special projects as assigned
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree
2-5 years of relevant experience
Entrata experience a plus
A working knowledge of GAAP
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A motivated self-starter, problem solver and team player
Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills
Ability to handle multiple high priority projects
Strong internet, computer, word processing, and spreadsheet skills
