Carrier Sales Representative Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Overall Responsibility: Responsible for the procurement of carrier capacity and the negotiation and brokering of freight.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Prospect new sales opportunities
Manage and grow relationships with existing carrier database
Deliver attractive freight options and market competitive rates for customers
Drive results by executing elite customer service to carriers, customers and internal business network
Develop and establish relationships with carrier network
Execute professional communication with carrier drivers to ensure positive working relationships
Negotiate competitive carrier rates
Manage daily shipments for on time pickup and delivery
Execute thorough communication between customers, carriers and sales department
Ensure maximum profitability on negotiated rates
Coordinate and manage customer tendered freight with qualified carriers
Monitor documents for discrepancies to prevent service failures
Promote and deliver elite K & L customer service
All other duties as assigned
Experience and Education:
2-3 year experience as carrier sales representative
McLeod Software experience
Desired Skills: Detail oriented, team player, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to type at least 45WPM, proficiency in MS Outlook & Excel, self-motivated, ability to balance priorities, ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, accurate data entry skills, strong organizational skills
Work Environment & Equipment: Professional, indoor office environment. Standard office equipment which include: computers, phones, fax, scanner, photocopier, filing cabinets.
Physical Demands: Sedentary role, sitting at workstation while carrying out a variety of both manual and computerized data entry and processing. Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching/crawling.
