Position Summary
Our rapidly growing company is currently seeking an energetic, highly motivated, self-starting individual to the position of our Accounts Payable Clerk. The ideal candidate should be well organized, happy, deadline driven, professional, and attentive to details while maintaining excellent customer service skills. The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payments to include receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices, processing check requests, scanning and filing invoices and maintaining vendor files. Above all, he/she must participate as a team member of the Accounting department and office, responding to internal and external needs in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Under general direction, this individual will handle all basic payable duties in accordance with policies, procedures and standards established by Klein & Co.
Responsibilities
Represent Klein & Co. professionally in the community
Plan and execute systems for the office according to policies
Work diligently with all employees of Klein & Co.
Accounts Payable
Receive expense reports from employees, verifying expenses, and preparing payment checks
Interpret and balance financial reports
Research and examine accounting discrepancies
Assist with the reconciliation and balancing of accounts
Compile reports to show cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to the operation of Klein & Co.
Perform general office duties
Answer incoming telephone calls
Forward callers to responsible party
Maintain a pleasant demeanor when dealing with the public and office personnel, either in person or on the telephone
Perform general office duties such as typing, filing, copying, etc.
Operate variety of office equipment
Performs new vendor set-ups, ensuring a complete support package (W-9, internal approvals, etc.) is obtained and properly stored.
Performs 1099 processing and year end reporting, as needed
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
Work accurately and independently, planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating and making decisions and judgments relating to assigned accounting projects and other responsibilities; communicating effectively, orally and verbally, in a diverse range of audiences and settings; developing alternative solutions to problems, preparing clear, concise, thorough, meaningful and grammatically correct written documents and reports; working cooperatively with others, paying attention to detail. On a regular basis, exercises judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service.
College B.A. or B.S. degree
At least two years previous accounting experience
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Excellent telephone communication skills
Strong QuickBooks skills
Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Word and Excel
Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
Business letter writing and basic report preparation
Strong organizational skills
Ability to perform accounting work independently
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Maintain confidentiality related to the area of work
Work cooperatively with all departments and personnel
Ability to handle multiple job tasks and meet strict deadlines
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Specifics
This is an hourly position; the work week consists of 40 hrs. Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (MST). Overtime is required on as needed basis.
