An opening is available for an internship with a pharmaceutical consulting company in Health Outcomes and Analytics.
Job Description :
The Internship at Outcomes Inc is designed to recruit and hire top quality interns that are interested in possible employment in field of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research. This opportunity is also available remotely. This will be a high-quality, challenging internship and we will be recruiting the very best candidates to fill these positions. The internship will allow the student to apply health outcomes techniques to marketed and developing assets within the pharmaceutical industry.
Details: The internships start in August 15, 2017 and last 12 weeks. It is a paid internships. Qualified candidates must meet the criteria set below. The student candidate will get hands on experience with projects from pharmaceutical industry/government and increased understanding how health outcomes techniques can be applied in health economic studies conducted by pharmaceutical consulting for pharmaceutical industry. We encourage candidates to have completed at least 1-2 years of graduate work and have strong medical writing skills. The successful candidates will be assigned specific projects to work on under the guidance of a Research Scientist (mentor). Intern responsibilities will entail developing; managing and communicating these research projects, ensuring timelines, and scientific integrity of the project
Basic Qualifications
Full-time student in good academic standing currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program working towards a Master?s or doctoral degree in a health sciences-related field (e.g., epidemiology, health economics, outcomes research, pharmacy, health policy)
Candidate possesses a working understanding of the health care system or related industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, managed markets, clinical practice, research or academic)
Candidate has completed basic coursework in research methods and design, as well as exposure to statistical methods and analyses using common statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, STATA)
Candidate exhibits ability to work both independently and in a matrix team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Availability for at least 12 weeks (May through August), Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm during this time frame
Position is based in the Chattily, Virginia or remote. If on site, candidates must be able to provide their own transportation to the work location
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States (US) without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of at least 2 years of graduate training with an overall, cumulative grade point average (GPA) (from last completed quarter) of at least 3.0 (on 4.0 scale)
Strong medical writing skills and proficiency in scientific literature review, manuscript writing, grant submissions, and poster development
Candidate has a strong interest in health economics, outcomes research and pharmaceutical industry with proficiency in one or more data analytical methods (e.g., regression, decision trees, Markov modeling, database analysis/SAS programming)
Candidate with excellent communication skills, both oral and written and a motivated self-starter with attention to detail, business aptitude, and strong critical appraisal/problem solving skills.
