POSITION:
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of big data applications using Scala, Spark, Kafka, and Cassandra. He or she will be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle, and have a key role in driving the direction of the project as it continues to evolve. This position reports directly to the CTO with a team of 4-6 people.
Responsibilities:
Designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions using the latest in big data technologies
Collaborating with product teams to turn business requirements into technical specifications
Reviewing other team member?s code for correctness and quality
Writing test cases to support automated regression testing
Refactoring and improving the existing code base
Qualifications:
5+ years of professional experience in a development role
2+ years of experience in Scala, Java or another JVM language
A very strong understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design
Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis including optimization of queries, data structures, and data modeling.
Knowledge of TDD, automated testing principles, and testing best practices
Bachelors in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or comparable equivalent
Desired Experience:
Familiarity with ETL tools and processes in an enterprise setting
An understanding of reactive and functional programming styles.
Experience utilizing Docker on Amazon Web Services for cloud-native development
Hands-on experience with Spark, Cassandra, and/or Kafka
