Job Description



Summary of Role:







Join a team of research, design, build, and integration technologists focused on the execution of RTX's near and long term strategy to optimize / consolidate Data Centers across the enterprise. Candidate is required to have excellent technical and communication skills to develop solutions for the company?s data centers ? including private cloud, hosting optimization, and data center optimization / consolidation. This position will play a critical role on the Global Infrastructure Engineering team.







A Technical Solutions Architect performs work across the enterprise and each business unit. They are an integral part of the technology stack to make sure technologies and tools work together to deliver business value. This person will leverage deep experiences between application development, systems engineering, scripting, data integration, and operations to support technical workers who execute the production functions. The solutions architect works with Sr. leadership, business units, Program / Project Managers, engineering teams, operations, vendors, MSP?s to develop and implement automation within our transition and transformation journey to Private Cloud.







Responsibilities:







? Lead functional teams to design data center hosting solutions including; HPC, Private Cloud, Windows, Linux, Storage, Compute, Backup, Disaster Recovery, Security, and Performance



? Ensure solutions meet regulations (i.e. CMMC L3, DFARS), controls, global policies, and legal requirements / impacts



? Plan and design continual service improvements to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service through tools and automation



? Work with Application owners to design hosting solutions



? Optimize solutions to meet business requirements



? Present solutions in design reviews



? Work with Network and Cyber teams to ensure design meets compliance and architectural standards.



? Be the technical lead in hosting services deployment











Experience/Qualifications:







? Minimum 5+ experience with the design, build, security and operationalization of scalable hosting solutions for multi-tenant data centers with a global footprint



? Knowledge of software defined data center technology components, server & storage virtualization, optimization, software defined networking, hybrid cloud, edge computing, high availability, redundancy, and automation



? Experience with planning, managing, and provisioning data center hosting solutions



? Ability to translate business requirements to functional specifications



? Experience managing geographically dispersed teams across multiple IT disciplines



? Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively



? Advanced knowledge of architecture, design, compliance, and business processes



? Demonstrated technical leadership with proficiency in setting priortities and driving solution adoption



? Experience in partnering with supplier to create innovative solutions for data center services



? Knowledgeable on current industry standards, best practices and benchmarking in digital technology



? Experience with data center tools and processes to design solutions that improve efficiency and enhance the user experience



? Strong interpersonal skills, ability to debate, dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively







Education:







? BS or BA Degree in a technical program or Advanced Degree with 5 years experience







Preferred Qualifications:







? Private and Public Cloud technologies and tools



? HPC experience



? SNIA certifications or vendor specific storage certifications



? Certified solutions architect



? Experience with virtual machines such as VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF Enterprise) on Dell VxRail, and VRealize private cloud



? Experience with Cisco Spine and leaf / VXLAN network with MP-BGP EVPN control plan



? Experience with network topologies with an emphasis on Ethernet and TCP/IP



? Experience with PXE, FTP, TFTP, HTTP, DHCP and DNS servers both Linux and Windows based



? Experience with network, server, and storage equipment from Cisco, Dell, IBM, F5, and NetApp.



? Experience with multiple operating system distributions of Windows, Linux, BDS and versions of OSX



? Expert level experience with one or more of the following; Microsoft Powershell, Python or VBS. Scripting background/experience should focus on automating common CLI driven tasks



? Expert level experience with the command line interface (CLI) for common hardware, network, storage, and security infrastructure to support DevOps / DevSecOps



? Experience with multiple imaging formats and deployment solutions (i.e.SCCM) etc.
