Sr. Tax Accountant Job Opening in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - MUST HAVE S CORPORATION OR PARTNERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Position Summary
Perform a wide range of tax related functions, including timely preparation and filing of tax returns, compliance with all tax laws and regulations and research to obtain optimal tax minimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze separate company financial statements to identify income or expense items that could create tax adjustments. Minimize tax liability through sound and informed application of laws and regulations. Mitigate tax risks.
Prepare Federal S Corporation and Partnership returns, annual reports & business privilege and license returns. Prepare tax schedules and paperwork for federal and state returns. Review state & local franchise and excise tax returns.
Conduct complex tax research, Interpret new federal and state law changes, evaluate their impact on the group's businesses, institute compliance and document positions.
Review apportionment schedules for continuity and legislative changes. Assist in completing quarterly tax computations. Actively research state tax law developments.
Prepare correspondence with tax authorities addressing notices received and resolving issues. Provide support for federal, state and local tax audits as needed.
Lead or participate in special projects. Partner with the Business Units to identify tax savings and process improvements. Mentor tax specialists by reviewing their work and providing feedback to ensure team's work products are complete, accurate, and ready for management level sign offs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive technical tax knowledge of federal and state tax returns for S Corporations & other pass-through entities, and multistate tax expertise. International and VAT experience a plus.
Strong workpaper techniques and attention to detail.
Excellent communication, research and problem solving skills
Proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities with aggressive deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Experience with tax software such as OneSource and CCH Tax Research
Minimum Education and Requirements
BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field
7-10 years of experience
CPA is a plus
