CFI also handles temperature sensitive cargo through our perishable network relationships from cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Latin America, South Pacific Asia and the Middle East.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Make sure the staff is committed to our Quality Policy, Vision and Mission Statement.
Manage the facility to insure successful movement of cargo.
Prioritize the work flow for cargo movements to insure customer and vendor satisfaction.
Process claim paperwork timely and accurately with carriers for all air freight claims.
Make sure the employees approach each file and customer as an opportunity to exceed expectations and build customer confidence.
Make sure all work completed meets Commodity Forwarders quality standards.
Departments are staffed properly to cover required hours at all times.
Make sure all freight forwarding activities abide by all government laws and regulations at origin and destination.
Make sure all necessary reports and records are complete, timely, and accurate.
Promote CFI Internet services.
Build a capable team of employees.
Make sure the employees are well trained, knowledgeable and possess all necessary certifications.
Assign accounts to agents which will allow them to successfully service our customer?s expectations.
Maximize employee productivity and efficiency.
Make sure staff follows our company?s organizational structure and abides by the direct line authority.
Provide employees with guidance to allow for future growth into positions with additional responsibility.
Provide employees with training and any other tools necessary to meet or exceed expectations and complete assigned tasks.
Complete at a minimum semi annual performance evaluations and recommend wage changes.
Make sure the employees keep all proprietary information confidential.
Minimize employee?s exposure to safety risks and immediately correct unsafe work conditions.
Maintain consistent performance expectations, providing continual evaluation and appropriate feedback both positive and negative as required.
Work with Department Managers to develop problem solving techniques that focus on symptoms rather then root causes.
Build strong relationships with providers and help employees do the same. Notify employees of special relationships, agreements or pricing with specific service providers.
Insure all claims are filed properly and necessary information is sent to claims department accurately and complete.
Work with the Vice President of Operations to establish pricing guidelines and establish budgetary guidelines.
Personally function as a Customer Service Agent as needed.
Insure the timely movement of cargo from origin to destination to fulfill customer?s instructions and insure procedures for taking bookings are followed at all times.
Make sure all import files provided to the warehouse are complete.
Process claim paperwork timely and accurately with carriers.
Direct the sales effort to achieve the goals for new sales and customer retention.
Maintain close relations with major customers. When appropriate, visit key customers to strengthen these relationships.
Create new business segments by implementing new product lines and developing new opportunities with both existing and new customers.
Resolve problems that arise during the transportation cycle to build customer confidence.
Approach each file and customer contact as an opportunity to exceed a customers expectations and improve the company?s reputation.
Proactively communicate requirements to customer to avoid unnecessary transit delays.
Play a strong public relations role for CFI by attending industry conventions, seminars, panels, etc. that promote the company?s reputation and do so in a professional manner.
Support the Management Team and New Station Managers in the expansion process through either mergers or acquisitions.
Make sure all departments provide the support required by other departments and other stations to maximize customer and vendor satisfaction and optimize profit.
Complete tasks requested from each department or station in a timely and accurate manner.
Complete responsibilities for all accounting related functions to achieve goals.
Insure all billing is processed within necessary time frame and billing is accurate.
Assist when needed to collect past due funds.
Negotiate with customers for all claims against Commodity Forwarders for mishandling.
Provide accounting with quick answers to billing inquiries.
Periodically forward revised rate sheets to all customers types.
Provide accounting with completed credit applications and educate customers regarding our terms and conditions.
Provide necessary information to corporate upon request for budgetary purposes.
Represent Commodity Forwarders in any situations where we would be required to have a representative attend any legal proceedings on our behalf.
Enforce adherence to Policies and Procedures.
Conduct Incident investigations when policy violations occur and issue disciplinary action consistent with company policy.
Enforce compliance to all policies, regulations and procedures.
Make sure the employees keep all proprietary information confidential.
Minimize employee?s exposure to safety risks and immediately correct unsafe work conditions.
Education and Experience
Required Education ? High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education ?College courses in business and employee management.
Experience ? 4 years management and 1 year sales experience in logistics.
Competencies
Basic Computer Skills including e-mail, web browsing, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
Strong grasp of geography to determine best freight forwarding routes.
Excellent customer service and vendor relations skills.
Ability to supervise others to maximize efficiency and achieve goals.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write and clearly communicate with poise and confidence in English over the phone and in person with customers, vendors and staff.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Must possess a valid driver?s license and a current insurance certificate.
Must possess the capabilities to obtain the following Certifications.
Sexual Harassment training.
TSA Certification.
Drug and Alcohol Certification.
Dangerous Goods Certification.
HACCP Certification.
Physical Demands
Travel periodically to customers, conventions or other stations worldwide.
Ability to read documents, forms and computer screens.
Enter and retrieve data from the computer and complete freight forwarding forms and documents.
Clearly communicate face to face, over the phone or through e-mail.
Work Environment
Environment is fast paced. Must be able to multi-task and handle high-pressure situations.
40-50 Hours per week and 5-6 days per week depending on season including weekend and holiday coverage.
Must be available by phone for critical assistance outside normal operating hours.
24-hour 7-day a week operation.
