Software Engineer/Technology Analyst (20437) Job Opening in Washington, District of columbia - The Software Engineer/Technology Analyst participates in the design, implementation, support, and maintenance of automation, computing, and database systems essential to carrying out the responsibilities and daily activities of Division or Board staff.
The Information and Technology Management (ITM) section engages in the design, development and support of programs, applications, and processes that assist the research, analysis, and policy work performed by the Division of Monetary Affairs.
The Software Engineer/Technology Analyst in the ITM section will serve as a Full Stack Developer and work on a small but growing team of web developers and user experience designers. Developers are expected to evaluate requirements and designs in order to recommend and implement the appropriate technical solution for each project or request.
Successful applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and at least 2 years' experience building interactive, database-driven web applications leveraging JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, AJAX, HTML, CSS, and XML. The ability to work in both Window and Linux environment is strongly recommended.
Applicants should have skills in problem diagnosis and resolution, ability to apply knowledge and creativity to assignments, understanding of the interrelationships among systems, and the ability to learn quickly.
Additional desirable skills/experience include:
SQL and relational database design implementation, and maintenance
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, or Ruby
Knowledge of version control systems (Git, GitHub, Stash/Bitbucket, etc)
Experience with web application frameworks and template-based systems
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) including SharePoint
Mobile and Responsive Development
Understanding of agile/scrum development practices
Knowledge of web standards, including accessibility and usability
Candidates should be organized and self-starting while also exhibiting a desire to collaborate with others and work in a team, develop new skills, stay updated on current and new technologies and create usable, intuitive, visually appealing websites and applications.
