Firmware Engineer Job Opening in Indianapolis, Indiana - As a Firmware Engineer you will lead and direct the activities engaged in research and development of electrical commercial locksets. Use leadership and organizational skills to achieve project goals through coordination of the activities of other technical resources. You will be responsible to ensure that products meet/exceed customer expectations providing the business with a competitive advantage.
Organizational Relationship:
This position reports directly to the Advanced Engineering Manager. This position will work closely with the Design Engineering Team, Manufacturing, Quality Engineers, System Managers, subcontracted organizations, and Electronic Suppliers. There are no direct reports to this position.
Specific Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and test firmware for microcontroller and embedded Linux based systems.
Perform full life cycle development tasks
Implement serial communication protocols
Set up and supervise various electrical tests and evaluate the same
Work with other functional areas during the development process
Lead or support subcontracted software activities
Perform power consumption analysis and firmware development for low power battery operation
Perform microcontroller resource analysis of memory usage and performance
Perform duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system
Stays current with emerging technologies and development tools
Perform other assignments as required
:
Skilled in design engineering for embedded, microprocessor controlled systems
Skilled in software/firmware development in C
Skilled in software architecture development
Clear understanding of electronic principles and concepts
Knowledge of schematic layout and circuit analysis for electronic designs
Responsible attitude towards quality work and timely performance
Skilled in describing firmware operations to both engineers and laymen
Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Professional and congenial personality
Ability to present oneself with a professional appearance
Ability to be organized and well disciplined
Good team skills
:
4 year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (Masters? degree in related field a plus)
5 years of work experience
Specific experience in a product design role for embedded microcontroller based systems required
Specific experience in writing firmware for embedded microcontroller based systems required
Experience in software architecture development preferred
Experience developing embedded processor code for real time applications preferred
Experience with cryptographic algorithms preferred
Experience with cloud based software development a plus
Experience with mobile app development (iOS/Android) a plus
Experience with FCC and UL testing preferred
Experience developing PC-based GUI designs a plus

Must be able to manipulate a computer keyboard
