The program provides qualified Vermont residents with the opportunity to be educated, mentored and employed as Machine Operators with the Swanton-based, Vermont Precision Tools . Over the past seventeen years, Vermont HITEC has educated and employed over 1,400 Vermonters in the fields of healthcare, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and business services.

In order to better fulfill its mission, Vermont Precision Tools is significantly investing in the development of its future workforce through the Vermont ITAR Program .
The Vermont ITAR Program is an eight-week, no-cost, intensive education and apprenticeship readiness program. Its objective is to ready students to enter career-specific apprenticeships at sponsoring employers. Vermont HITEC has worked with over 30 Vermont employers in a variety of fields to educate, train and employ more than 1,400 Vermonters over the past seventeen years.
We are now recruiting for our fifth session to train up to eight (8) Machine Operators. The ITAR education program features intensive course work and hands-on instruction. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm, with significant homework each night and on weekends. Successful graduates of this session will be offered full-time positions in an apprenticeship at Vermont Precision Tools as Machine Operators.
These positions with Vermont Precision Tools may involve additional classroom education as part of a hands-on real work apprenticeship, led by staff mentors. These positions will start at $14.00 per hour. Apprentices will have the potential to earn $15.00 or more per hour after six months and $16.00 or more per hour upon the completion of a one-year apprenticeship and is based on performance. Further wage growth potential exists based on performance and overall growth within the organization. Overtime may be available, and the positions will also include a comprehensive benefits package as eligible.
