DCS Systems Engineer Job Opening in Hackberry, Louisiana - Primary Purpose:
The DCS Systems engineer, with process control system engineering and expertise, safety instrumented system and emergency shutdown system expertise, safety integrity level expertise, and control maintenance services capital planning and execution expertise, for the facility. Works closely with other staff to provide control engineering services where needed. The position reports directly to the Manager, Facilities Engineering.
This position will be located in Sulphur and later in Hackberry, Louisiana. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) will be required.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the process controls systems from an engineering perspective and assures all design modifications or additions of the same are performed professionally and in strict accordance with company procedures and code compliances. Assures all planning, scheduling and managing all process control engineering activities, emergency shutdown system (ESD) and safety instrumented system (SIS) activities, and safety integrity level (SIL) activities related to plant facilities are coordinated and performed safely and efficiently. Leads resolution of any alarm flooding, management, and rationalization issues.
Provides daily process control, SIS, and ESD supports to the plant to keep the plant systems operational. Improves and ensures the reliability and integrity of the SIS, ESD, and process control systems. Optimizes the SIS, ESD, SIL, and process controls systems for efficiency and equipment reliability. Leads the maintenance and provides training for the Operator Training Simulator (OTS).
Develops or supports the development of proposals for facility improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates for capital projects as assigned. During development and construction, supports the Program Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending. Helps develop process control, SIS, ESD, and SIL activities for all operational projects and new developments, from conception to completion in line with budgets and on time scheduling.
Ensures that documentation for the process control, SIS, ESD, and SIL systems are maintained properly. Participates in the development of documentation standards including updates to the unit operating manuals. Participates in the Management of Change process. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develops documentation.
Assists in developing and managing budgets and schedules to meet financial targets with an understanding of the accounting and procurement procedures and guidelines and abides by them.

Qualifications:
Education:
BS in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Chemical or equivalent preferred).
Experience:
At least 6 years in the petrochemical industry, or oil and gas industry.
Has proven track record in trouble shooting and analysis of instrumentation and process engineering system problems.
Prior experience in GE turbine control system (i.e. Mark VI) and Emerson Delta V system, preferred.
Prior experience in solving alarm flooding problems, preferred.
Prior experience in working in a liquefaction plant, preferred.
Prior experience in OTS (Operator Training Simulator), preferred.
Prior experience in UniSim dynamic process simulator, desired.
Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities:
Possesses good oral and written communication skills. Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG receiving terminal. Have basic computer skills including project management, database, and use of Microsoft Office programs. Possesses good planning and organization shills and meets work deadlines. Possesses the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.
Must be willing to be on call and work overtime as required.
Must be willing to travel for factory acceptance testing, training, etc. as required.
Provides leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, engineering design, maintenance, and operation groups.
