General Manager of Safety Job Opening in Smyrna, Tennessee - General Manager of Safety- U.S. Operations
Vantec Hitachi Transport System (USA), Inc. is currently seeking a General Manager of Safety for our U.S. Operations. This candidate will be based out of the Smyrna, TN or Canton, MS area.
Essential Job Functions:

Attendance at a designated work facility
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
Exemplifies and upholds company ethics and environmental, operating, regulatory, safety and accounting policies and standards.
Communicates company objectives and philosophies to employees.
Develop environmental, health and safety (EHS) structure for all 3PL and warehouse operations according to legal guidelines.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of safety compliance.
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
Conduct training and presentations for EHS matters along with accident prevention.
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by ensuring the inspection and audit of employees and operations.
Ensure the inspection of facilities, equipment and machinery is being observed at all 3PL and warehouse operations.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes, then develop and implement solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Promote EHS awareness at all company locations through continuous improvement tools and techniques, standard EHS and EHS campaigns.
Report on EHS awareness, issues and statistics.
Travel required 50% of time
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge:
Substantial experience in distribution or manufacturing environment.
Must work effectively with employees and have leadership characteristics.
Must have superior time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and laws
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree required; master?s degree preferred
5-10 years of previous experience managing safety in a warehousing, manufacturing or distribution center environment
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Incumbents in this position are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching, climbing and walking, and occasional lifting up to 35 lbs.
Incumbents may be exposed to weather and temperature extremes.
Work is performed in an office and warehousing environment.
