Financial Controller Job Opening in Beaufort, South carolina - Geismar a worldwide manufacture of Railway Maintenance Equipment is moving its North American Headquarters to Beaufort, SC. Has an opening for a Financial Controller, at this location.
The job responsibilities are as follow:
1. Controller of a commercial and industrial entity.
2. Oversee the operations of the accounting and financial department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
3. Manages the accounting and human resources staff.
4. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
5. Reports to the President of the entity and the head office CFO.
General responsibilities:
1. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
2. Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements, plan short and long term financing.
3. Maintain banking relationships and optimize bank financing when required.
4. Reduce working capital needs by optimizing inventories, supplier and customer payment terms.
5. Ensure adequate procedures are in place to assess clients? credit risk and authorize credit terms to customers.
6. Coordinate with headquarters for the issuance of performance bonds, LC, etc.
7. Ensure adequate procedures are in place to maintain sufficient control on supplier invoices and payment processing.
8. Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits packages.
9. Coordinate with the auditors the tax calculation and filing, optimize tax savings, when applicable.
10. Develop performance measurement and KPI.
11. Implement operational best practices.
12. Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced.
13. Responsible for the day to day management of administrative staff.
14. Be responsible for investigating any breaches of employment law including but not limited to: Grievances, Disciplinary, Termination of employment etc.
15. Ensure value for money of supplier contracts.
16. Be responsible of IT system and staff.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
2. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
3. Ensure that unpaid invoices (customer) are followed up.
4. Process payroll in a timely manner.
5. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
6. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
7. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
8. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Reporting Requirements:
1. Issue timely and complete financial statements.
2. Work with the auditors to ensure the accounts are certified each year and audited accounts are issued before June 30th.
3. Manage the timely production of the various group reporting: monthly management accounts, cash forecasts, sales and backlog, weekly cash report.
4. Prepare the annual budget in coordination with the President.
5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
6. Provide for a system of management cost reports.
7. Provide financial analyses as needed (pricing decisions, contract negotiations, etc.).
Risk Management and Compliance:
1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile.
2. Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
3. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
4. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements (including Import and Export regulatory).
5. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
6. Report risk issues to the Group CFO.
7. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
8. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and filings.
9. Ensure that changes in legislation relating both Financial and HR are implemented correctly within the organization.
