The Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center will soon complete a multi-million dollar expansion project that will add an additional 100,000 square feet to the medical center. The project will include a new patient tower with a new 24-bed emergency department on the first floor, a dedicated 16-bed cardiac critical care unit on the second floor, and 34 private rooms on the third floor. Hazard ARH opened in 1987 as one of the most modern and technologically advanced hospitals in the mountains. The 358-bed medical center continues to expand its services and is one of the largest and busiest healthcare facilities in Eastern Kentucky. Annually, Hazard ARH admits more than 14,000 patients to the hospital, treats more than 100,000 on an outpatient basis, and cares for more than 25,000 patients in its emergency room.
