2017-1779 Retail Sales Representative Job Opening in Niles, Michigan - Position Objective
This position will provide a strong presence and work to facilitate the retail strategy at all retail facilities to provide assistance with new, used, rental, product support, and other company products for the retail customer?s needs. In addition to supporting the branch with equipment sales and rental, this role would act as a customer contact for the company.
Essential Position Duties**
Actively represent the company through a customer base within an assigned geographic area including existing and new clients while building relationships as a single point of contact
Responsible for handling all walk-in inquiries regarding equipment and services; presenting equipment and finance options and solutions; conducting store machine presentations/demos
Will identify and qualify customer needs, closing sales where possible, or transferring leads to other sales reps or managers.
Will be responsible for ensuring all customer needs for all company divisions are supported and managed to the customer?s satisfaction either directly or through Sales Link CRM (or current Customer Relationship Management tool).
Maintain clean customer databases, customer fleet information, proactively communicating company offers relative to assigned database via telephone, email, and other means.
Work closely and have accountability to Branch Manager, Heavy Equipment Sales Development Manager, and CCE Sales Manager regarding sales budgets, unit objectives, and balancing market share with sales profit.
Meet assigned sales volume dollar quotas within assigned time line.
Accountable for CRM with retail customers and to update and qualify accounts employing a disciplined phone call campaign.
Maintain an accurate account database and machine population.
Support all sales team needs in the assigned territory with quotes and necessary back-up as needed for the sales activity of those products.
Interface with sales and service personnel in a team based approach, assisting others as needed to achieve sales goals and ?make it happen?.
Maintain an active call cycle to achieve established PAR (planned annual rate) as assigned by management with no less than 30 calls completed and recorded per day
Timely completion of all necessary company documentation and any other general reports as a result of signing an order with a customer as required
Position Requirements
College degree preferred but not required with a minimum of 2 years work experience.
Proven dedicated self starter with the ability to work independently with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to learn, develop and maintain product knowledge and company offerings
Experience assessing customer needs and evaluating customer satisfaction.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple situations and priorities simultaneously, guiding each situation from beginning to end for the desired positive outcome.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills and a thorough understanding of Price, Quality and Turnaround principles.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft or other comparable systems required and the ability to develop skills in CRM, GPQ, and other proprietary software

Difficulty of Work and Responsibility**
Incumbent performs duties broad in scope and must interpret and apply policies, procedures, guidelines and laws that are generally easy to follow, including CAT guidelines and company policies and procedures. Incumbent performs duties such as pricing strategies and product specifications that are more difficult to obtain, as well as to interpret and apply. Detailed data analysis and systems knowledge are a normal part of daily routine. An error in judgment or procedure such as not completing a contractual agreement or a job order could impact revenues, expenses, operating profits, legal compliance, customer relations and company reputation.
Work Relationships, Physical Effort and Work Environment**
Position maintains contact with department staff, division and company staff, customers and employees of both public and private sector organizations and the general public on a daily basis. The work environment is generally in an office setting; however, the possibility exists for exposure to various weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold as this position works both indoors and outdoors. The possibility exists for exposure to some hazards at various times, such as close to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and exposure to high heat or chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and oil. The normal physical activity is medium work and includes climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. The minimal visual activity is close to the eyes indicated by the types of machines and equipment required in an office environment, a shop environment and a driving environment. Safety glasses and steel toed shoes are required in the shop and field area.
Technical Competencies
Solid understanding of the products and their application.
Ability to discuss the technical aspects of the equipment with customers and other employees.
Sound mathematical aptitude with the ability to figure financing.
Solid understanding of the retail BCP, Used Equipment, and Work Tool business and their processes.
Excellent ability to understand customer needs and relentless in the pursuit of fulfilling those needs.
Above average computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software, Caterpillar software packages such as Sales Link, I-Quotes and InfoCast. As well as main frame programs such as DBSi.
Analytical problem solving capability in applying policies, procedures, guidelines and laws.
