Accounting Manager/Controller Job Opening in Lenexa, Kansas - Position Summary
Lead the Finance function of Kustom Signals, Inc. (KSI) including providing management with accurate, timely, and relevant financial and production data and analysis necessary for decision-making. Manage Cost Accounting processes and procedures related to reporting and supporting the control of the flow of material, labor, and overhead through the manufacturing process. Manage communications services in conjunction with the IT Department on a temporary basis. *Ultimately manage the IT Department.
Education
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting and/or a Masters in Accounting or MBA preferred but not required.
Experience
At least three (3) or more years of finance management experience in manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in manufacturing cost control and analysis.
Required Skills
Thorough knowledge of technical and professional principles of accounting, finance, and manufacturing costing (using an integrated ERP system).
Proven ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, i.e. chairman of the board to assemblers, in both written and verbal form; strong interpersonal skills.
Strong management and supervisory skills, including the ability to train, supervise and evaluate the performance of management, professional and clerical staff.
Ability to accumulate and analyze detailed information, identify trends and/or root causes, and recommend and implement changes; ability to critically review and guide subordinates in similar analyses.
Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
Ability to work with Company senior management team and parent Company management in identifying and achieving short- and long-term strategic goals.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams to the successful and timely completion of tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Develop and manage the accounting team in Lenexa and Chanute. Manage the operations and functions of the IT Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage operations and functions of Finance department including accounts payable, credit and collections, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
Provide monthly forecasts of the Company?s financial results and ongoing analysis and monitoring of actual results versus these forecasts.
Provide ongoing analysis of all manufacturing costs, investigation of key variances and recommendations for improvement.
Develop benchmarks and other measurement tools to report the progress of continuous improvement activities regarding material, labor, and overhead utilization.
Maintain and implement consistent and efficient policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with Company and parent Company?s policies.
Supervise direct reports i.e. hire, fire, complete performance reviews, apply discipline, etc.
Oversee all Company general ledgers and reporting.
Prepare reports which summarize and forecast Company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and future operations.
Oversee preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and advise regarding needed modifications, and prepare necessary supporting documentation justification. Present and justify budgets to the parent Company. Monitor compliance throughout the year and work with senior management team to implement spending changes as necessary to meet annual plan.
Provide management with timely reviews of organization?s financial status and progress in its diverse activities.
Prepare, evaluate, and recommend to senior management and/or parent Company capital expenditures; oversee and maintain proper control over all company capital assets.
Establish and modify reserves and accruals as appropriate to the operations of the Company.
Evaluate and recommend modifications to existing corporate programs.
Support the Company?s management and Chief Financial Officer with the parent Company in the following functions: insurance coverage, internal and external audit, income tax compliance and planning, regulatory reporting, banking and cash management. Assist in the preparation of monthly and periodic reporting, merger acquisitions and other projects as they arise.
Organize and oversee the implementation of the new Epicor ERP system for both Kansas sites starting on 5/1/18.
Negotiate and set credit terms and approve credit for distributors and customers in general, and with regard to specific sales opportunities.
Advise how expenditures are to be categorized.
Calculate bookings run rates. Assemble and be the final arbiter for monthly sales and revenue forecasts. Produce pipeline reports for Parent Company.
Manage communications services such as telephone, internet and data transfer services for Lenexa and Chanute sites in conjunction with IT Department.
Oversee management of the computer equipment installed at both Kansas sites as well as items placed with employees in the field.
Review, advise and approve all Special Pricing Requests requiring approval at Parent Company.
Interface with banks on letters of credit.
Obtain performance bonds from time to time to support Company bids.
Arrange wire transfers for procurement purposes.
Manage production of the following reports:
Pipeline reports (twice monthly).
Orders on hold (weekly).
Contribution margin for Special Pricing Requests (as required).
Business Analysis Report (weekly).
Projected Sales and Margin Report (weekly).
Financial Statements, preliminary and final (monthly).
Revenue and Margin Reports (monthly).
Operating Expenses (monthly).
Working Capital financial reports (monthly).
Sales Bonus Calculations (annual proposal plus quarterly payout calculations).
Budget Reports, both preliminary and final (in last quarter of year).
ESP Report segments including monthly forecasts and forecast variances (monthly).
Variance Analysis Reports, sales and expenses (monthly).
PVM Reports, preliminary and final (monthly).
Invoices for Extended Warranties (as they come due).
Calculations to support PAR requests (as required).
Reports to aid in the analysis of the business and specific business opportunities (as required).
Presentation slides on financial topics for meetings with employee groups (as required).
MPD Intercompany Sales Reports (monthly).
Reports of amounts received from customers and releases of orders from hold status (as required).
Authority Level Guidelines (as required).
Purchasing Authority List (as changes occur).

Computer, fax machine, telephone, calculator.
Typical Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to twenty five (25) pounds, sit for eight (8) hours a day, and drive a car.
Working Conditions
Quiet, temperature controlled, office environment. The job is deadline oriented, which requires working in the evenings and/or over weekends. Position will be based in Lenexa, KS and periodic travel may be required to the Company?s manufacturing facility in Chanute, KS.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
