Medical Assistant Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - Surgeon's office in NW Portland is seeking an experienced MA.
Responsibilities:
Assist physician as the primary administrative and clinical support in a busy office setting.
Bridge gaps between patients and physician
As part of the healthcare team, you will primarily support one Otolaryngologist (ENT physician) in a medical office with some responsibility extending to assistance of the other two physicians in the office, coordinating all non-physician tasks directed related to patient care.
These tasks include:
Communication with referring physicians
Bridging the gap between patient and physician enhancing both patient and physician satisfaction by ensuring uninterrupted continuum of care. This may include obtaining test result and record as needed from referring hospitals, outside physicians and /or ancillary services. Prescriptions, referral and ancillary procedure are other examples that fall in this category.
Commitment to quality improvement. Monitoring, identifying and being involved in improving clear system issues.
Independent capacity to complete a detailed list of tasks. Identifies work needs and determines task priorities without frequent oversight.
Ability to complete multiple high priority items in a timely and thorough fashion is crucial.
Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships. Must be able to work well with multiple types of people from different backgrounds, both patients and physicians.
Other similar duties as assigned - surgery scheduling, patient flow, triage, insurance per-authorizations and physician schedule management.
Required Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, as well, as organizational skills, problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Efficiency in a fast paced clinical environment. The ability to successfully interact with diverse groups of people, including physicians, nurses, patients, and families. Excellent computer skills and Electronic Medical record (EMR) experience.
Desired Qualifications
Associate degree in a health science field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. Experience in a clinical setting, either inpatient or outpatient.

Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
