The Operations Manager is responsible for the management of all operations within the field work, fabrication, and installation departments including operational efficiency, productivity
Primary Deliverable: Quality and efficiency of team?s work. Jobs must be done right, on time, the 1st time
Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
Resource planning: The Operations Manager is responsible for prioritizing work and resources to achieve maximum, accurate output according to schedule
Anticipate and calculate necessary resources to achieve productivity goals
Operate fabrication and casting machines to maximize efficiency and output
Maintain appropriate inventory of necessary resources such as tools, chemicals, resins, vehicles, machine parts etc. to provide continuous flow of production output
Ensure appropriate staffing levels are achieved and shifts are functioning properly
Quality control (QC): The Operations Manager must ensure all work is accurate by reviewing, auditing and adjusting quality control processes. Work must be done right the first time, every time
All jobs must complete necessary QC checks prior to leaving the fabrication facility.
Templates, sinks and material must be received correctly, stored in the appropriate location, properly identified, labeled and scanned from receipt at the facility through final installation
Talent development: The Operations Manager must hire, train and develop rock star team members
Recruit and hire top quality employees to maintain a strong people pipeline
Teach, coach, mentor and develop each team member to create a safe, successful & happy team
Ensure training is completed for all necessary skills, requirements, safety standards etc.
Provide clear performance expectations. Quickly identify and address performance issues. Hold all employees accountable to performance standards. Give specific and timely feedback
Clearly communicate individual and team performance goals; generously celebrate wins
Cost control: The Operations Manager will actively manage expenses to achieve profitability goals
Material cost, labor expense and production supply costs must be proactively managed to an acceptable percentage of revenue
Monitor material cost and commodity pricing to ensure purchasing power is maximized
Maximize material yield in fabrication
Behaviors and Traits
Proven track record of building and managing strong teams across multiple departments, Experience successfully executing plans, systems and processes through team member accountability, Producing consistently accurate results
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor degree preferred. 5 years management in a manufacturing environment. 5 years of experience in stone fabrication and/or engineered marble helpful.
Environment and Physical Demands
Representative physical demands: talk; hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to occasionally lift, up to 50 pounds.
