Beer/Wine/Liquor Specialist Job Opening in Richmond, Vermont - JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting customers with their selection, assuring appropriate variety and inventory levels of product are available for consumers to purchase. Meet and follow merchandising standards according to the department needs to drive sales for Beer and Wine. Adhere to DLC requirements for Liquor Merchandising, while providing excellent customer service that is consistent with the company standards and service excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is intended to be all-inclusive. It focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.
Provide excellent customer service
Maximize product sales by informing customers about products and suggestions for use.
Actively suggestive sell products through education and recommendations. Build consumer loyalty and trust
Assure that all stock is maintained at the appropriate level by, proper ordering for Beer/Wine and Liquor, restocking cases and shelves as needed to assure adequate inventory levels of each product are displayed to avoid lost sales from product out of stock
Must have knowledge of beer/wine and liquor
Provide information when questioned by the customer about the products we sell with regards to beer/wine
Provide information on the location within the country and world where beer/wine is produced
Follow stock rotation guidelines to assure distressed and close dated product is removed from the sales floor at the appropriate time to maximize product freshness and quality for our customers
Follow all safety guidelines to ensure safe work practices are used always and to ensure that a safe working and shopping environment is maintained at all times
Maintain a clean and orderly work area including sales floor and backroom areas that are free from debris and clutter with clean floors, cases, shelves, glass, clean and organized coolers and/or storage areas
Maintain pricing integrity by ensuring products are labeled and priced correctly and errors that do occur are immediately corrected
Enforce age identification checks on purchase of alcoholic beverages
Follow prescribed merchandising guidelines to assure that product is presented in the most desirable way to maximize appearance, presentation, and sales
Assist in receiving product deliveries, providing an accurate accounting of quantities and items received to assure that receiving records reflect an accurate accounting of goods delivered
Maintain product and industry knowledge by attending seminars and wine tastings offered by distributors
Conduct Beer/Wine and Liquor tastings in accordance with DLC requirements
File with DLC the proper permits for Beer/Wine and Liquor prior to performing tastings
Contact and work with all Beer/Wine vendors for special deals of the month
Price Beer/Wine in accordance with the company directives
Perform inventory on a month and yearly basis
Track all credits and shortages
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Industry knowledge and previous work experience within the Beer/Wine and Liquor and retail industry
Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Service-oriented individual with a high energy, positive and friendly demeanor; excellent communication skills are a must.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, sales driving and problem solving skills
Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects
Comply with FDA, OSHA, and all other regulatory agencies
Demonstrate product knowledge of Beer/Wine and Liquor
Sound judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills
