Mortgage Specialist Job Opening in Lafayette, Louisiana - Purpose and Nature of Work
Position is responsible for all aspects of the First Time Homebuyers Program. Incumbent performs work independently and reports to the Program Coordinator.

Reviews loan applications for compliance with the program. Prepares paperwork for loan closings. Works with lenders and title companies for loan closings. Services approximately 700 loans. Takes payments on accounts and prepares deposits. Answers phone and talks to borrowers about status of their account. Prepares cancellations and subordinations for loans. Handles financial records for loan program and reconciles account. Assists Program Coordinator with other matters as necessary.
Necessary Knowledge, Ability and Skills
Considerable knowledge of loan procedures
Considerable knowledge of financial statements and basic accounting principals
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, the business community and other employees.
Desirable Training and Experience
Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in business, business administration or related field; and experience in business, loan processing, loan servicing or underwriting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
