Accounting Manager Job Opening in Dallas, Texas - SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager / CFO, the Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures and preparing accurate and timely financial reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Accounting Manager?s specific responsibilities include:
Finance and Accounting
Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and journal entries
Distribute transaction detail reports to departments for review
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries
Ensure Development and Ticket Sales revenue are properly documented and recorded
Reconcile GL revenue and receivable accounts to Tessitura (DTC?s ticketing and donation software)
Process cash receipts, maintain daily cash log, and make bank deposits
Annual Financial Processes
Serve as audit team contact for documentation requests
Serve as tax team?s primary contact for Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Theater Center Endowment Fund Form 990 tax return preparation
Manage fiscal year end closing
Other Duties
Maintain Finance Department?s budget/forecast model
Prepare financials for grant proposals and industry requests (TCG, LORT, NAMT, other)
Attend Finance Committee meetings and prepare meeting minutes
Attend Dallas Theater Center staff and company meetings
Other special projects and miscellaneous duties as needed
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications
Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting (GAAP) with the ability to evaluate and apply the rules related to basic accounting principles
Understanding of general ledger and chart of accounts
Experience with accounting systems, Blackbaud FinancialEdge preferred
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Organizational ability and attention to detail
Ability to complete a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy
Self-motivation with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously while understanding immediate needs for accomplishing urgent matters
Professional, courteous manner, high energy, and an eager, positive attitude
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least three to four years of accounting experience. Non-profit accounting experience preferred. CPA certification, experience with Blackbaud and Tessitura, experience working in a theater environment are a plus.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have a bachelor?s degree. Emphasis in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
