The Job: Known for product innovation and for challenging the assumptions about how wines are made, packaged, sold and consumed, Union Wine Company is looking for experienced sales professionals and kindred spirits to represent our brands in the Midwest region of the United States.
The primary focus of the Regional Sales Manager is managing the relationships with our Distributor partners and working with key Distributor personnel to achieve Union Wine Company?s sales and profit objectives. The Regional Sales Manager will also be responsible for directly calling on the top Key Accounts throughout the region, developing relationships and building enthusiasm for the Union Wine Company brands. Finally, the Regional Sales Manager is a critical player in executing our brand strategies in the Midwest, and assuring that key brand messaging is effectively delivered. Extensive regional travel is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Establish and manage relationships with Distributors and Key Accounts in the designated regional market.
Engage in regular and effective communication with Distributors in order to establish and monitor sales and financial objectives for the market(s) served.
Manage depletions through specific channels of trade including On-premise accounts, Chains and independent retailers.
Achieve annual sales and profit objectives by brand, by state, by region.
Manage all financial responsibility for the region including: an annual profit and loss budget, including depletion allowance spending, promotional spending, incentive budgets, and travel and entertainment budgets.
Develop Distributor sales incentive programs, negotiate pricing/programming, educate and train sales personnel.
Identify and prioritize sales to Key Accounts located in each market, working with Distributor partners as well as independently
Develop and maintain a target account list for both on and off premise accounts
Conduct retail tastings, trade shows, and Distributor meetings / education when necessary
Develop relationships with all chain buyers located within the region
Present Union?s wine portfolios at sales meetings, tastings, wine dinners, etc.
Qualifications
A great person who will do great work and who embodies the values of the Union culture: collaboration, collegiality, and mutual respect.
Minimum of 5 years of successful Distributor management and/or wine supplier experience in selling wine, building brands and establishing and maintaining customer relationships. Has a strong track record of sales achievement.
Bachelor?s Degree
Excellent wine knowledge
Chain account relationships and experience are an asset
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Excellent planning/ organizational skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Candidate must be professional, focused, goal oriented, and demonstrate a high level of personal integrity
Requires strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point) and effective use of sales management tools (TradePulse).
Current valid driver license with clean record
Ability to lift / carry up to 40 pounds
Preferred base location for this position would be in a major metropolitan area in the Midwest.
This position reports to the Vice-President of Sales
