Business Analyst Job Opening in Eden Prairie, Minnesota - Summary/Objective
The Business Analyst is responsible for the eliciting business requirements from users for IT project requests. The primary objective for this position is to partner and collaborate with the business sponsors and end users to accurately capture and document all relevant business processes and information and create programming specifications that will allow the programmers to develop a quality solution that meets business objectives. The Business Analyst will participate in or direct the quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy and adherence to requirements and programming specifications. The Business Analyst further supports the business by performing Help Desk functions.
Essential Functions
Engage in collaborative sessions with business sponsors and end users to elicit and document business requirements for enhancing current technical solutions and developing new systems and programs. Follow standard practices for gathering and documenting requirements. Create and maintain strong relationship with the business partners, technology team and project manager.
Create written and graphic documentation and programming specifications which capture business and functional requirements so that the solution can be developed. Partner closely with programmers during development to ensure full understanding of project objectives throughout the development phase. Provide accurate and timely feedback to programmers and users in order to keep projects on track in order to meet quality and timeline objectives.
Document new and enhanced functionality as it is developed. Provide education, training and user reference materials to end users so that new functionality is understood and used appropriately once implemented.
Develop test plans, including creating test cases and test scripts. Provide direction to test analysts to ensure project timelines and quality are met. Participate in testing and functional certification process as needed to ensure on time delivery of projects.
Maintain and document all project activity in the appropriate project management tool.
Assist in troubleshooting issues, generating queries, and verifying information.
Required Education and Experience
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
3+ years related experience
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent analysis and interviewing skills
Highly familiar with Software Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC)
MS Office (proficient/expert in Word, Excel, and Visio).
Experience in and familiarity database, network and PC environments
Experience working in a SQL environment
Ability to work either independently or closely with others as the needs of the project dictates
Must maintain a customer service and quality focus at all time
Must be highly adaptable to perform in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor?s Degree
5+ years? experience as a Business Analyst and/or Project Manager
Experience in using QA tools, automated testing and writing automated scripts
Advanced SQL skills, including writing SQL queries/scripts
